In what context was this released? Like why was the animation created? Just to spread a visual synopsis and gives the bare bones to those that knew nothing of the case? Or was this on some news site in the UK or something? (I'm bad with accents, that was a UK accent, right?)
I'm a little confused…my only reaction is that it's a bit over simplified and incorrectly portrays some of the facts as I've heard them. Insignificant facts, but if your purpose is to inform folks, may as well get your facts straight… I guess when I saw the title I was hoping for a much more in depth, concise animation and if you're going to show multiple "versions" of the events, be clear that they are different depictions based on the shooters story, facts collected, and witness reports. IMO the first break in the story from simply reporting the facts to Zimmerman' s account of things where Trayvon attacked him was portrayed as fact initially. Inserted directly after "actual police call" and "as reported to Police". The only lil disclaimer being "Zimmerman reported" before stating that Martin attacked Zimmerman…
Honestly, I think this animation will do more harm than good…but let's hope I'm wrong.
I can’t see the animation now but I’m glad the FBI will be launching their own investigation. It’s fact that the Sanford police failed to do their job, witnesses reported that they refused to take full witness reports, tried to correct and twist their words to match Zimmermans story. Anyhow keep updating.
I didn’t see the video, but this story is very bothersome to me. Regardless of what actually happened, as a lawyer, I am completely perplexed as to why Zimmerman has not been arrested. Self-defense is an affirmative defense that one asserts at trial and it is the fact-finder who decides whether it was a case of self-defense. The last time I checked self-defense was not something one says to avoid arrest. By the logic of the Sanford Police Department, I could kill someone when no one else is around and say it was self defense and they wouldn’t arrest me. Does that sound right? Hell no, so I don’t care what the actual facts are, legally this does not make sense, unless you add race to the mix.
